What Happens in the Wilderness
Good news for those of us who find ourselves disconnected from a church community or a faith practice.
This week on the Raised Catholic podcast, we’ll dig into the reality of a wilderness faith experience. If you’re disconnected from a church community, wrestling with beliefs you always took for granted, or questioning just where it is your faith is leading you these days, then you are familiar with the wilderness. Though it can be lonely, challenging, and hard, a wilderness experience is something lots of faith people have encountered over time, and there is goodness to be found even out here.
Give episode 141: What Happens in the Wilderness a listen (or read the transcript) and let’s talk about what the wilderness is looking and feeling like for us over in the comments. I’ll start: for me, it sometimes looks like being in a church but missing the ‘home’ it used to feel like when it seemed like we were all on the same simple (but hard) page of loving God and loving our neighbor. It sometimes feels like the color has drained out of what used to be a much more vibrant place, and it makes me want to look harder to find that color and light again, but now without the same community to help me navigate. And so, friend, how about you?
If you’re not aware, I always offer lots of resources in the show notes of the podcast to help you dig into that week’s topic for yourself, and I’ll share a few of them here as well, along with the most dear Instagram reel which I’ve watched approximately 500 times. It reminds me that there is so much more than we can see, and that is such a helpful thing to know while walking in the wilderness.

Check out lots more resources in the show notes of the podcast on Spotify, Apple podcasts, or wherever you listen, and I’ll see you in the comments here! (My friend, John D., *kind of* promised to be the first commenter this week, but I bet you can beat him if you try!) Peace be with you, friend. Have a good week ahead.
