My first post
Hi there, I'm Kerry. I'm a cradle Catholic preschool music teacher, music minister, Mom to two wonderfully grown kids, writer and podcaster, enneagram 4 and INFJ deep feeler. Welcome!
Beginnings are hard.
I’m so glad you’re here. Just like when I started the Raised Catholic podcast in late 2020, I have little idea of what to expect, but I’m glad to find a place to meet with you that enables us to have conversation on the many topics that are facing us as people who were raised with the Catholic faith, who want relationship with God, but who are now questioning some of what we are hearing in specifically the American Church. You can find some of my older writing and more about me over at kerrycampbell.org
1. Why this, why now?
The Raised Catholic podcast has been a good start in unearthing some of the topics that we can look at as we seek to own our own faith practice, but I’d love to be more engaged in conversation on those topics. So often when we deconstruct or wonder or wander, we can feel like we’re doing that all alone, but I want us all to know that we are all in this together, and to support one another.
2. Here’s who I hope will join us.
It’s my hope that this will be a positive, inclusive community of Catholics and other Christians who are intentionally seeking clarity in what Jesus actually taught in order to build a faith practice and a church that reflects the abundant life that Jesus is calling us to. We’re wrestling it out, we’re open to new ideas, and we’re kindly supportive of each other in our own faith journeys.
3. Here’s what to expect.
I intend to post weekly on Tuesdays with the transcript of that week’s Raised Catholic episode (these are between 11-15 minutes long if you’d like to give them a listen), along with occasional meditations and reflections. At this point, all of the posts will be free, but if you were looking to support my work, a paid subscription at just $5 a month would be a great way to do that. Thanks in advance for considering.
I hope you’ll join us here in this space. Like we sometimes sing at church, all are welcome in this place (really!). Exploring and understanding the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of a faith practice can be a big part of being human. Let’s get into it together.
