This week on the Raised Catholic podcast, we’re considering the impact of the lives we’ve lost, the ones whose lives we really admire. Around here, it’s been a season of loss, as we say goodbye-for-now to more and more members of a generation and gather to mark and celebrate what made their lives truly lives well lived.
As we look at the lives we most admire, let’s remember that our goal is not to emulate them, necessarily, but to live most fully and authentically ourselves, with our gifts and strengths and vocations, in service to our sisters and brothers. As St. Francis de Sales said, “Be who you are and be that well.” We can look to our friends who art in Heaven, at what they’ve said ‘yes’ to, at the through lines of their lives and ask ourselves about our own ‘yes’, remembering that what we do today will be what will be remembered then.
Listen to episode 161: Live Well Lived at the Raised Catholic podcast on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts (or read the transcript) and then let’s meet back here with a word about how you hope you’ll be remembered one day. See you the comments!
Well done, Kerry. You have never disappointed me yet.You have given me much to mull over. Maybe I can bring up some of your thoughts at our men’s bible study next week. Thanks, Bob Basche
