This week on the Raised Catholic podcast, I’m bringing back an oldie-but-an-oh-so-goodie episode, number 10 from way back in 2021. In this episode, I describe lent by its etymological root - the word means springtime - and I encourage us to prune what needs pruning and feed what needs feeding in order to get the most beautiful and flourishing growth in the end.
An eye toward Easter-as-blooming is not a new concept, but keeping our end in mind as we choose our Lenten disciplines will give us a good context for our ‘why’. If you were born and raised Catholic, you may not have been encouraged to think about ‘why’ we fast or give something up or add something in, but since each one of us is different, understanding ourselves and what God is doing in us as individuals will be key to using our Lenten springtime well.
Listen to episode 164: Let’s Talk About Lent at the Raised Catholic podcast on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts (or read the transcript), and then let’s meet back in the comments to talk about what Lenten disciplines are resonating for you this time around. See you there!
