This week on the Raised Catholic podcast, I’ll walk you through a few real-life situations this week in which I (sometimes sadly) noticed the passing of something. If we’ve lived a bit of life, we may be all-too familiar with the experience of time, places, jobs, roles and communities shifting and passing that we can get kind of locked up in this melancholic idea that it’s just not the same, and it never will be again.
And it’s true. But in the realm of our faith, there are lots of examples in the scriptures of saints and prophets and even Jesus reminding us to look forward and not back. As we consider the things and communities (even within our church) that have passed or are in transition, maybe it’s helpful to remember that God who knows and loves us is always at work for our good and is up to something that is exceedingly, abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
No, it’s not the same, it’s true, but what if one day, it could be even better?

How can this change make space for something new?
