Beauty, Truth & Goodness
How do we find and keep the ideas, habits and faith practices that are worth holding onto?
This week we’ll hear an episode that first aired in late October of 2021. It’s a good follow-up to our conversation last week which was all about digging into our foundations, holding things up to the light, and finding what will best fit the people we are becoming.
I start the episode by reading a poem from Mary Oliver called “Mindful,” which sets the stage well for this conversation, because it encourages us to look around our own lives and be empowered by our own perspective. If you were born and raised Catholic like me, that might be newer ground for you, but I can attest that learning to trust and value our own lens is a practice that will bear such good fruit.
Because each of us is out here living our own unique experience, this would be a great topic for us all to weigh in on, so give this week’s episode a listen or read the transcript and then let’s chat about it in the comments. I would LOVE to hear where you are finding beauty, truth and goodness these days. Thanks to Mary for being the very first commenter here at Substack, and thanks to all of you who are reading, listening, praying, and trusting me enough to share this page with your dear ones. I take none of that for granted, and I’m so grateful to be building this community with you.
Peace be with you today, friends, see you in the comments!
I'll start: these days I'm finding beauty in the faces of my preschool music students, truth in the lessons that the hydrangea are teaching us in changing color according to the season, and goodness in connection with my grown daughter on a recent shopping trip, with neighbors, and in being part of community. How about you? :)
